  2. what brand of camera do you have?

have you tried checkin the website of the manufacturer?

how about an all-in-one card reader so you can drag and drop the files to your pc?

  3. If you want to transfer the DV footage from the tape, you can use.
    WINDV
    DVIO
    DVapp
There are others but these are small and free.

I'm assuming you are using firewire (IEEE1394) connection between your camera and your computer.

its USB. its not a DV cam, its a digital camera which has the ability to make small clips(avi). once i shoot a clip, i need software to get it off the camera and on the pc. i have Ulead photo explorer which will import the photos, but won't do an avi.

  5. You dont need software if you are using XP , it will see Removable Data Storage in "My computer" Unless it is some unknown camera.

    Drag and Drop.

WinXP includes drivers for removable storage, such as USB. you should be able to plug most things in (like USB pens), open Explorer and treat them just as any other drive, albeit slower.

However, I can't remember if it needs it or not but I seem to remember my camera (Fuji FinePix F601Zoom) not exactly playing along when I first hooked it up. It might be my bad memory coupled with the fact I Ghosted an image with all my essential drivers preinstalled so haven't had to worry about it in a long time but you may have to look into your manufacturer's website for drivers.

i have the right camera drivers, its the process of this that i do not know. i was under the impression that i needed software to get the avi off the camera and on to the HD.

EDIT: if you know of some software that will accomplish this, please reply

those cameras use mjpeg for their avi file most often ..

just plug it in the usb post and copy the files over (nothing special needed for XP)

to view/edit them , you will need a mjpeg codec , which you can find in tools .. hopefully a genaric one will work as some cameras need a specific one ...

the camera website (you woudl think) should have the codec ..

Are you going to keep the make and model of the camera a secret?

Usually you use the included software to transfer the file. Usually it is a MOV quicktime file with MJPEG codec.

Here is my brain dump concerning my 2 day old Canon S60.

    [dump]
I just got my Canon S60 yesterday. My incomplete search for MJPEG and Quicktime editing tools for the Canon movies has led me to

    TMPGENC with
    - PicVideo http://www.jpg.com/picvideomjpeg.htm
    or
    - Morgan-Multimedia http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/technicalsV3.htm
    or
    Quicktime Reader plug-in for TMPGEnc
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video ... mpgenc.cfm

    or
Windows Media Encoder 9 + Quicktime
install QuickTime Pro or QuickTime Alternative
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video ... native.cfm
and then convert the .MOV files to .WMV using Windows Media Encoder 9
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx

    Another lead
    RAD Video tools.

Maybe you can help me finish this project.

    THANKS FOR TRYING TO HELP.

i think its safe to say that i am not an idiot. drivers are installed, software disk that came with the camera is badly scratched and won't install. Ulead photo explorer gets the jpg's off the camera and onto the hard drive. whatever gift Win XP has, it does not make my camers show uo in My Computer, or am i looking in the wrong place? the software that came with the camera(which won't install,i bought used) is Arcsoft Photo Impression. the manufacture(sp) just has the drivers(which i alredy have) and does not suppy the software.

i don't know what more i can say

  21. If its scratched maybe you should try to read it with ISObuster.

  22. Your camera is probably set in PTP mode rather than Mass-Storage Device mode. If you just use Windows Camera Wizard, it should be able to transfer everything off your camera and onto your hard disc.

Furthermore, it would help everyone concerned if you actually posted the Brand and Model of your camera. Your continual and frankly inexplicable reason for not doing so is what is making people question your intellegence.

Well, I'll be able to help more in a few days. I can tell you this so far from experience with my old Olympus digital camera.

First, Arcsoft Photo Impression is an image editing program.

Depending on your OS, you may or may not need to install drivers to run the camera download software..
Win 98/ME usually interfaces the cam via a TWAIN driver.
XP will connect directly to a supported camera via USB.
    • for XP go to start - settings - control panel - scanners and cameras - add device
you may find your camera listed there
after you add the camera, go to the camera wizzard
start - programs - accessories - scanner and camera wizzard and make a shortcut to desktop.
This will be your XP image loading program.
An alternative way to load image files is via a universal USB flash card reader. Slide in the flash card and it appears in Windows Explorer as a disk drive.

As for the movie files, they will be on the flash card as MJPEG inside either a quicktime MOV or AVI wrapper. You will need one of the codecs listed above to play the files. One of the codecs is probably on the camera software CD.

That's about all I know at the present. I'm going to install my Canon software tomorrow and see what I got.

PS: if you see a *.AVI file, Windows Movie Maker 2 may be able to play and edit the file directly. If not, you need the MJPEG codec.

If we had that little bit of info, we could have directed you here
    http://cameras.driverfiles.net/page,level2,617,17,resultpage1.html
    http://www.concord-camera.com/support/faq/eyeq_duo2000/duo2000_support.htm
    http://www.concord-camera.com/support/downloads/downloads.htm

-Concord has a very good support site, this thing even works as a webcam (very rare)
    -video specs
    • AVI (Motion JPEG) with no sound
Video Resolution QVGA record & playback. Frame rate: 15fps
Over 8 minutes with optional memory of 128MB (Sold separately)
Note: QVGA means "quarter VGA" or 320x240

So the AVI file contains 320x240 MJPEG at 15fps
Try to play and edit the file in Windows Movie Maker 2.

With a cable you can play your videos direct to a TV
ArcSoft VideoImpression is the included video editing program
