I am about to purchase a new internal DVD burner for my Dell computer. I would like to buy one that is DVD-RAM compatable. I have a DVR which will copy to its HDD or DVD-RAM. I want to be able to play (and edit) the DVD-RAM video in my computer.
So far, I've heard that Pioneer has one and so does LG. Does anyone have any experience with these 2? Any other suggestions?

Just looked up the specs on the VideoGuys website. It says:

    Supported Discs: Read/playback
    DVD-ROM/DVD-Video (Single layer, double layer)
DVD-R (for Video, for Data, for Authoring)
    DVD-RW (for Video, for Data)
    DVD+R
    DVD+RW
    DVD+R DL
    DVD-RAM (Non-cartridge Version 2.0/Version 2.1 only)
    CD-ROM/Audio CD CD-R CD-RW, High Speed CD-RW, Ultra Speed CD-RW

I have DVD-RAMs that are both in cartridges (Toshiba) and not (Memorex). I think this means I can use the Memorex ones?

    I mis-spoke. I use Panasonic DVD-RAM's. They don't come in a cartridge.

I'm interested too. I think that my Panasonic 521 is about to go.

I'm thinking Toshiba SD-R5372, but I'd like to know first if it will converse with the Panasonic MovieAlbum software. Do you know?

I do a lot of copying movies onto DVD-RAM (from TV) and then onto DVD-Video with my computer and software.
