  1. Ooooooohhh K. I fired up TMPGEnc, turned off that confusing settings wizard.
Loaded up the same AVI file for both video and audio source. Adjusted the output settings not at all, since they seemed to automatically adjust to the settings of the original file.

Anyhow when it finished 5 hours late, the 1hr and 20 min movie sill appeared to be in full screen, but there was no sound, also the movie went from a 700 some mb divx file to a 5gb MPG file. What's worse is when the movie is finished and the credits roll. You get to stare at a cut off screen for another 2 hours that does absolutly NOTHING, but waste hard drive space.

This 2 hours of dead space was not there before.

Anyhow I know I have the audio options turned on, what else do I need to do? I'm trying to take a collection of wide screen divx files and put 2 a piece per DVD.

Ok, there's a number of things going on here. First, I'll respond the way most would around here: find a tmpgenc guide and follow it to the letter.

    Here's the problems I see:
Sound: tmpgenc sucks with converting sound straight from the avi. Everyone knows this. Use something like virtualdub and convert the sound to a wav file. Then open your movie in tmpgenc and load this new wav file in where it says audio source. This may eliminate that 2 hr stare thing at the end of your movie. Also, make sure you're using the right compresser in audio for DVD specs. (I don't make dvds so I'll refer you to a guide for this).

Fullscreen: Hit the setting button on tmpgenc, go to advanced tab, double click the clip frame filter, hit the arrange button, select the way you want your video to be. Remember this setting and hit cancel. Now above all the filters where it says video arrange method, input the setting which makes your video look good and make sure that the clip frame filter is unchecked as you will not be using it. You're good to go from here. Tmpgenc has a preview options under file tab.

You really really should use a guide if you want to make 2 episodes per dvd fit.
