  1. i would like to make a few small changes to one of my dvd's

    this is what i intend,
1 copy to hard drive with dvd shrink
2 edit (replace) sections of audio track
    3 burn back to dvd

1, and 2 is easy, question is, what will do step 2?

Goldwave is good, but pricy. Another is Audacity, which is freeware. There are others in the "Tools' section under 'Audio editors'.

  3. ta, downloaded audacity, but the prog starts, then when i open one of the vob files on hard drive, it starts to open the file, then half way through it says...
    runtime error, abnormal program termination
    is the download faulty?

Actually, step two may not be that easy. Depending on what format the audio is currently and what format you can make the changes in (for instance, any audio other than LPCM is difficult to edit and work with), you may have to

    a. Demux uadio and video from within the vob.
    b. If it is AC3/DTS audio, convert to 6 mono wav files
    c. Edit/replace sections of audio
    d. Remux audio and video
    e. Reauthor disk, discarding old menus and creating new ones.

Don't underestimate the task you have set yourself.

  5. geezz guns1inger, sounds like a hard task...

just to tell you exactly what i was thinking, as any quantum leap fan will tell you, they have made a monumental stuff up and replaced some audio in a few episodes of season 2. the one that must be the bigest is replacing 'georgia on my mind' with some generic crappy music, that destroys the magic of the scene (youd have to know the show to understand the importance of this)

anyhow, i wanted to 'replace' the song they butchered
