I like the fact that it can convert VOB files to AVI WMV or DIVIX i have not tryed to go from other formats back to DVD or VCD yet but it seems as tho it would do that too.
Sorry if there has been post about this B4 i did do a qwick search on it.

Seems to do too much to be specially good for anything... But that's me - I like to use a hammer for driving nails, a screwdriver to drive screws, a socket wrench for bolts and nuts - not a Swiss Army Knife for it all.
(Don't listen to me - I'm just like this! It might be a fantastic app! )

I dunno! Seems to me, that you can do all that this utility can do with free tools, for the most part.

DVD to DivX and XviD ----> GordianKnot / Auto GordianKnot (others too)
DVD to WMV ----> GordianKnot, then Windows Media encoder VCM9
    TV Caps --same as above.
Home videos -- same as above

For encoding the above to DVD or VCD/SVCD, I would pay for a good encoder (TMPGEnc).

I am just cheap I guess. But my encodes sure look darn good.

  4. When i used Tmpg to convert the vob files it would come out with no audio. I tryed to demux the audio & do it that way but still no audio

    Amish,

I dont think TMPGEnc Plus handles VOBs. You have to demux the VOB files first. I use Gordian Knot (free) to do this quickly and easily.

    Open GK
    Open DVD2AVI
    Open VOB(s)
Save project (very quick) - this demuxes the VOB into audio and small project file *.d2v (you have to tell DVD2AVI to demux audio).
Open *.d2v file in TMPG and encode away.

Virtualdubmod handles VOB files just fine. You can save as an uncompressed AVI, extract the audio, or whatever.
