    Howdy,

I want to rip some of my DVDs into Divx so I can put a bunch of them on one DVD.

I have a copy DIvx's Converter program I got when they were giving away licenses for free. I've also used AutoGK in the past (the far distant past)...

I'm just wondering if there's any major advantage to using either of these programs or some other program out there.

All I want is the best video possible while still maintaining good audio (5.1 if it will keep that). And I want to get the size to 1gig or less.

Divx Converter is just drag and drop the file and come back later while I know others let you change settings and such.

Are there any comparisons to the output quality of the various programs?

    Thanks.

If both programs are using the same Divx codec, then the output will be exactly the same if the encoder settings are the same. And, yes, you can use AC3 5.1 audio with Divx, if those program will let you.

AutoGK will give you more adjustments, which, if used properly, should give you better quality. Divx converter is simple because it has a lot less options.
