  1. When I use the pal>ntsc option on an avi, it plays in my dvd player but the picture is black and white. In the past when trying to play pal discs it has not worked at all so it seems that the program does something for the compatibility. One thing is the mpeg produced in the conversion is still pal. Am I using the feature correctly? Any help would be appreciated. Maybe I just shouldn't use a stupid Pioneer dvd player.

PAL to NTSC is currently just for SVCD mpegs. Therefore PAL avi's will remain PAL. I will look at extending this to both VCD and AVIs in the future.

  3. Using beta 6, on one sample extracted from svcd, when pal to ntsc is checked, authoring of mpegs fails. Log messages are produced without the processing happening.

On the same material, when pal to ntsc is unchecked, the authoring succeeds.

  5. try using Main Concept Mpeg Encoder.... you can make it NTSC SVCD or MPEG2 adn tehn use those mpegs in the svcd2dvd and it will work great...

I had to do these with the PDTV captures for SGA and SG1 and Mainconcept works great... then to svcd2dvd to put 4 episodes on 1 dvd and it works nice...
