Well the difference is that TMPGEnc has better quality and has wayyyy more features than DVDx. I'd go for TMPGEnc if I were you...

  3. DVDx is an all in one tool containing ripper and mpeg-encoder. TMTGEnc is an mpeg-encoder which can work with DVDx (using AVISynth plugin) or other rippers (using DVD2AVI). As dhruv said, the quality of TMPGEnc is better than the internal encoder of DVDx. I use DVDx and TMPGEnc in combination.

  4. DVDx has the advantage that it can now use Plugins, so you can use external encoders, I believe you can even frameserve to TMPGEnc, although I dont see the point in using DVDx and external encoder, you might as well use Flask instead, TMPGEnc is best I believe for the main reason you got alot more options to play around with and it's more user friendly.

  5. DVDx is easy to use (and automatically cuts mpegs into cdr size pieces) but it doesn't syncronize the audio to video. Also VCD quality is not as good as Tmpgenc.

  6. Do you really want it to automaticly cut your movie ? wouldn't that be annoying to find out you spend all that time encoding and then in the middle of an action scene the movie gets cut and then you gotta switch to another CD ?

TMPGEnc is more customizable, and using the Source Range, I can find the best transition spot to split the movie.

  9. DVDx has a god encoding engine. If it was possible I'd like to use it with frameserving from Premier. I made a few encoding test of the last DVD I made. What can I say, it works fast. Faster than Tmpgenc and the quality isn't so bad. I like it.
