the only thing im not 100% on is the case and the mobo, might wait till asus is in stock....but still the point is i set out to build a cheapy computer i was thinkin between 200-300 with the parts i have layin around. but nooo look at the freakin cart now![]()
the way i figure, why am i gonna half ass something and waste all that money.
BUT STILL im just a sucker, i just wanna make myself feel better by others saying yeah this happens to them too![]()
even when i go into a retail store this happens![]()
it's an evil trap, and they got you from the cajones from the start..bastards

The way I look at it is either go cheap or go best (well, almost best - best is always over priced). You'll never be satisified with halfway, you'll either kick yourself that you didn't fork out the little bit more - cheap and you have the satisfaction that you saved money.
List out two columns - one cheap and one best, total up each and look at the difference. If you can justify the added cost then go best, if not go cheap. -
i know i know, but the whole point is i was lookin to spend maybe $200-300 tops and look what ended up in my cart

I usually just looke for th ebest bang for the buck, which right now is about an AMD TB 2600 or so with something like a Biostar M7NCD MB

Newegg is addictive.....
Buy the stuff in your cart then use the pc you have now as the second pc....that's what I did to convince myself that I needed a PENT 4 3.0 pc....it worked for me -

I did the same thing with my new system. At first I was looking at cheaper solutions for a new workstation but then ended up spending a lot more on it. I'm certainly glad I did though. You should be able to do quite a lot on that system as it is. I didn't see memory listed though?FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -

im just gonna use a gig of my corsair pc3200 for that one for now...and leave 512 in this system. cause if i start lookin at ram right now that basket price is gonna get ugly. i'll save for the ocz el dual.
but see now u got me thinkin again, this is noooo good. i dont wanna see that basket price get out of control -

Forget the RAM then if you've got good PC3200 already. I'm assuming you've got 3 sticks of 512MB then? Use two of the 512MB sticks for the new machine then.
What's with the SATA drive? Price is nice on it I guess.
The PSU is more important than the case. I'd still push that big Antec PSU and get whatever case you want. I was suggesting the Antec P160 case as it has been the quietest case I've ever witnessed. Even with two big HSF it's still very silent.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -
well the ram is value select corsair...its not bad or anything, it works and its pretty reliable just not the best for speed. SATA means more info flowing specially for a newer system.
im thinkin of goin all the way with it. here's my cart now
i sound like a woman who cant make up their mind....this was my whole point of this thread, i set out to get a cheapy computer and look what i came home withtypical woman shopper

I actually like that price for all that hardware. Almost makes me want to put together a single-CPU system
You may perhaps want to wait for a PCI-E system board? That way you can save up while you wait, and add a PCI-E video card in that cart tooFB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -

Hadn't heard that before. I noticed I was looking at 120s vs the 200s you spec'd anyway.
Seagate also has new 300s out and 400s due soon.
