i have an old 486 machine that needs the BIOS re-installed, repaired, or updated. can anyone tell me what kind of info i would need from my pc? in the BIOS screen it says its an AMIBIOS. but what specs do i need to search for an update???.........

You need the motherboards model Number & manufacturer info.
Once you have go to their website, enter the tech support area and search for bios/drivers (along those lines). track for bios upgrades with the model number.
Once you've downloaded the new drivers, expand them in their own directory, rename "ren autoexec.bat autoexec.tab & config.sys config.ysy"(if you have them), than reboot your computer. Go into the Bios upgrade directory and run the runme.bat (or whatever they call it). After the update completes, "rename autoexec.tab autoexec.bat & config.ysy config.sys" (if you have them). reboot your computer, set your BIOS, and you're all done
