  1. Shrek/Snow White new copy protection? Opening credits rotate three languages, movie out of sync...

Never have these problems on any other DVD's. TMPGenc won't open the mpgs (even though it created them) for re-synching...says unsupported or something...
My system: Asus A7M266 1.33Ghz/266FSB 512MB Crucial DDR Sdram. All In Wonder Radeon 32MB DDR Sdram. Toshiba SD-M1202 DVD Rom (just 2X I believe)30GB 7200 Rpm Maxtor HD for WinXP 2600 (Final)and programs, 80GB 7200. Nothing overclocked.

Use DVD Decrypter. It will tell you what kind of protection the DVD uses.

    All mine use CCS, CPPM

  5. I did Shrek and Snow White US NTSC version, not a single problem, the smoothest films i've done in a long time, and bullseye on a single CD as well.

I had no problems ripping/encoding the DVDs for Snow White and Shrek. Both went fine, I used SmartRipper to rip the DVD.

That problem is nothing related to the DVD, it's related to TMPGEnc. You may not have a codec installed for which you used to encode the movie. Did you encode the movie to MPEG-2? If so you might not have the MPEG-2 Codec installed (i.e. PowerDVD or WinDVD is not installed).

  7. I noticed the same here - that weird multi-language thing at the beginning, and resulting files were out of synch.

I did not have a problem reopening them in TMPGE though... I was able to fix it the way I normally do - adding/subtracting time to/from the audio track. The synch was off by the same amount from beginning to end - from memory it was around 0.5-0.6 secs off.

This is one of the most visually impressive SVCD conversions I've done - it really looks stunning, albeit on 2 CD's - not 1.

  8. I had no problem whatsoever with both shrek & Snow white, tried both dvdx & flask on them & they ripped fine.

    DVDdecryptor 3
    flask 594 with panasonic plugin
    tmpeg 2 split!
    works like a dream

tried the same method with dvdx only using the standard setup (very blocky but no sync probs)

    Kev!

  9. Had the same problem with Mulan using DVDDecrypter. Switched to SmartRipper and all is well.

Actually there's a problem if you try to rip them with Windows XP. Microsoft said they'll fix it in an upcoming update on the Windows Update site.
I only dream in black & white...

  11. Hi,

Shrek is a multiangle CD(I think that's what they call it),
it has the video tracks for each language in one same file, that's why you see them repeating.

To get around this, use SmartRipper and use the File Backup option. Then use Flask .6, open the IFO file and select which angle you want to use and the audio track plus subtitles, if you need/want them. If you don't know which angle to choose, look at the video(where you saw the opening titles rotating) and they usually rotatein order. For example, in Shrek, it's English, Portuguese, then Spanish.

    I hope this helps.

...I don't think so. I ripped Shrek (US NTSC) just a few days ago, on an XP machine (smartripper/dvd2avi/tmpgenc), no problems whatsoever...

  13. I have seen this problem before on *mostly* Touchstone releases (if memory serves me correctly). I have seen it on Shrek, Shanghai Noon, The Horse Whisperer, and others. Ripped using DeCSS or VobDec, without pulling the .ifo file.

danalmsa has it correct; it is related to multi-angle.

  14. Sefy...did I read your post right ...ON A SINGLE CD!?!
How's the quality compared with a regular 2-cdr vcd?

PLEASE make this single cd TMPenc NTSC VCD template available so I can download it!!!

    I got to try this!

  15. i think he used a 90 or 99 min CDR when he burned it to a CDR

  16. Whoosh25, like pinoy2201 said, I used a 90min CDR, the movie fits on it like a glove, I used a Video-CD Template to encode, and it is one of the more impressive encoding i've had in a long time, the movie looks amazing even in VCD format.

    God I love 90min CDR's

By The way to all those with the weird ways of ripping, I didn't have to do anything special, I ripped using Smart Ripper and I didn't have any Multi-Language or Angles Problems, it was the fastest and best encoding i've had in a long time, total of 4 hours and I had the whole movie on a CD

  17. try to alternate between smartripper and DVDdecryptor..if one doesn't work..you will always have the other as backup...don't use crap like claddvd or other stuff, claddvd is horrible when it comes to heavily multi-angled stuff

Whoever's arguing about size-to-disc... try this one:

I encoded Shrek, from Divx (superb quality) to a "Standard" SVCD, fit on 1 CD, looks PERFECT.

That's 480x480, 128k sound, 90 minutes folks. 1 CD is quite reasonable, especially for kids movies.

As for ripping, I have to come across a movie yet that couldn't be ripped by Smartripper... it just takes the right settings.

Sometimes you have to search carefully for the right angle... I think I remember when I put in my "Unbreakable" DVD, when it ripped it was unnecessarily HUGE, but in reality it was creating a .vob which had "English" default audio, and was only playing Angle 1.

I would avoid the "ripping vob's only" method if you can help it, unless you need subtitles and such.

It's late, and I have NO idea if that makes any sense.

    Perfect SVCD of Shrek using:
    Smartripper
    the chain flaskmpeg preview 0.6->avisynth->TMPGEnc
On TMPGEnc i've set Constant Quality at about 2450 Kbit for video and 224 Kbit for audio. Amplified audio of about 300%
    and...that's all i think.
    Regards
