  1. i installed a pioneer 108 today and already have a 107.
they are both on same IDE cable.
i've burned a few DVD's at 8x simultaneously and they seem to be working fine.
    i'm using Nero 6
only slightly worrying thing is buffer is pretty unstable.
how reliable is what im doing?
would it be better to have writers on different cable? (mmm sure i've read that before and nobody agreed)

You should not burn 2 dvd's at the same time.

    It is very unreliable.

You could end up with coasters.

  3. do u mean when burning bazooka or a coaster after it's burned eg jerky playback?
so far they have all burned ok
but what about these duplicator things, they burn multiple DVD's at same time. is that cause they are set up differently?

You computer only has so many resources, and you are consuming resources burning.

By burning 2 at the same time, the buffer is going haywire and can create a coaster.

The general consensus is burn one, then burn the other.

    What is your hurry?

If time is that much of a factor use a second computer.

I burn using an internal 108(at 6x) and an external 107(at 4x) via USB2. I use DVDdecrypter for the internal and Recordnow Max for the external. The source data are also on 2 different drives. I don't do this all the time, but I have done it 5 or 10 times with great success.

  7. just to make it clear, it's burning 2 DVD-Rs from same source not 2 different movies at same time.
how many ppl have had success or failure at this?

I guess if you have the disc space, make a copy of the source on your hard drive. Then burn from both sources.

I have a total of 5 burners, 2 on one pc and 3 on the other, of which I burn simultaneous all the time with no errors.

2 burners here (both pioneer 108's) on same ide, duel burn (same stream) all the time with no errors, get erratic buffer on 8 X's burns, so limit to 6 x's, which is plenty fast enough for me, oh, i dont multi task when burning .....

If you're burning THE SAME MOVIE it's no problem.

There has been some discussion on this at http://club.cdfreaks.com.

Personally, I would only attempt such a task if:
    1) Have a very fast PC with 1GB Ram or more

    2) Have Fast or RAID 0 Hard disks & The hard disc(s) and each recorder is on it's own channel.

    3) Not record at more than 4x without scanning for errors (dvd info pro, nero cdspeed, kprobe (liteon drives), plextools pro (plextor drives) - not all drives support error scanning with every program, pioneer drives do not support error scanning...period.)

    4) Recordings can be completed without buffer underruns (usually corrected by buffer-underrun protection, but it is still best to try and avoid them.) - This is related to number 2 and 3 (burn speed).

*NOTE: IDE only allows for 1 device to be accessed per channel at any given time, so if both burners are on the same channel, you are not burning simultaniously. This is why the buffer is going crazy (data is not consistantly transfered to each drive.)

A pitty, check http://www.cdfreaks.com & http://www.cdrinfo.com. The pioneer is slower at 16x than most other drives @12x.

    good luck

    No, just halfway decent burners.

Burn-Proof and Justlink (or whatever Pioneer calls these) are amazing technologies. Doesn't mean you're getting great burns.
