  1. Im currently encoding mpeg 2 to DVD. the encoding is generally taking 2 -3 hours using TMPGEnc plus for a 90 min film, then it has to be authered & then burnt, the whole process is generally taking about 4 hours, Im just wondering if there is a quicker way to encode or if im doing something wrong? the end result is good but just seems to tak a long time.

you can try mainconcept mpeg encoder or cinemacraft encoder basic or canopus procoder exprees.

or try an all-in-one converter like winavi video converter but don't except the best quality. more all-in-on tools.

Hey why do you need to encode MPEG-2??

Isn't it already encoded? And if it's too big for a DVD, don't you just DVD Shrink it???

    I'm a bit confused here...

That is apparently a SVCD file. You might be better off using something like SVCD2DVDmpg. It would save a lot of time and effort.

I don't really see a reason to re-encode with TMPGEnc, unless I am missing something. If your video file stays the same size, you might want to convert the audio to AC3 to save some space. Or run the finished DVD through Shrink to make it fit on a DVD.

There are other options that are even quicker. Just look in the 'Convert' section to the left and select SVCD to DVD.
