Hi,
Having captured from VHS [analogue] with Hauppauge WinTV card to mpeg2, I now want to restore the video aspect ratio to 16:9, which was broadcasted in widescreen [but captured in 4:3 from the old TV-set]. This sounds a little bit anachronistic, but the problem seems interesting: how to get rid of the black bars?. TMPGenc offers an easy solution after puzzling a while with the appropriate settings, even without clipping the image and thereby speeding up the re-encoding time.
Settings tab Advanced : Source aspect ratio 4:3 625 line PAL
Video arange method No margin [keep aspect ratio] --> this does the trick
GOP structure: IBBPBBPBBPBBP [ 1-4-2-1-15 ]
Video stream setting: 16:9 display
rate control: 2-pass VBR
etc
DVD PAL (MPEG-2 720x576 25fps [VBR 1150 kbs]
So far so good. But after half a hour of film [out of two hours] so encoded, the image turns black [from frame 53671 and remains black forever.
As you can see in this frame [which is B-picture] the iimage is divided in an upper and a lower section.
How can I get rid off thhis line? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance
It seems to me that in this case two frames are blurred [only using Virtualdub to show this to you; noot to encode the film]
