    Hi all

I currently use TmpgEnc DVD Author 1.6 but don't like the menu options, so I've downloaded the trial of V3 which now has encoding.

A lot of the stuff I want to author is 544x576 DVB recordings. With V1.6 I could fool TmpgEnc into authoring by patching with DVDPatcher, but V3 insists on encoding, even though 544x576 DVDs work fine on every DVD player I've ever tried.

So is there a way of turning off the encoding in V3? Otherwise I'll have to stick with V1.6.

Another irritant is that to use a still image from the video in a menu it looks like you have to set the point to both the start and end points - you can't just drag the seek bar to the frame you want.

    Any solutions?

    Thanks

  3. I haven't found a way to stop the RE-encoding of 544x576 material - Since I upgraded to a dual-core system I usually stretch and re-encode with an avisynth script into CCE. Before the upgrade I usually either just used the free DVD Styler to author a DVD with a simple top menu or recorded onto my DVD recorder and then ripped the dvd onto the PC. (It's also worth checking if the channel you're recording from has a +1 channel which broadcasts at 720x576. (E4+1 for example)

As far as the still image in a menu, do you mean as a background or as thumbnail(s)? Either way, you can turn off the motion menu settings for that item and then just set the start point.

    Thanks TimA-C

I think I'll save my £ and stick to 1.6 then - a shame, because I really liked the new menu wizard but my time's more important

For the still image I meant for the thumbnails. I thought I had turned off motion settings but maybe I was missing something.

Oh, well - at least I have an answer now - thanks
