Wanting to encode my MGM cartoon laserdiscs to ... well something.
Am I right in thinking that Laserdisc is lower res than SVCD, and as a result SVCD will be perfect for the job?
As for sound, I was going to use Layer2 but read somewhere that AC-3 was significantly better and that Layer2 was incompatible with NTSC DVDs.
Considering the sound, was captured via the audio out phonos on the back of my laserdisc player, will AC-3 be pointless and will Layer 2 still be compatible with NTSC SVCDs?
Finally, can you create the same sorts of menus when creating a SVCD as you can with a DVD?
Many thanks in advance - Paul.

There hasn't been any good guides for converting LaserDisc apart from this one, but basically you do need to capture the output as if you were converting VHS/Betamax to DVD as the output of LaserDics ins't digital
If I can track down more information on LaserDisc conversion I would gladly add it to the tutorials on my site, but 'till then this link looks like being the only one that gives a good general idea of what is needed
