Lite-On SOHW 812s freaks out

Can anybody tell me what is wrong with my writer? Every time I try to record a DVD-R it always takes VERY long to write the Lead-in and VERY long to write the Lead-out. Each DVD-R recordede has some (few)unreadable errors.
Maybe the media are deficient in some way? I use 4x Esperanzas.

None of thes happens with DVD+Rs.

This model for some reason doesnt do a good job with DVD-R. Also if your media is crappy, I have this same one and havent had problems with either DVD-R or DVD+R.

Update your firmware

I use riteks G04 dvd-rs with no problems ,use better media either ritek,sony or taiyo.
