  1. How can I put this DAT file back onto a bootable VCD? Would I have to steal the file architecture from another VCD, and place the DAT file into the MPEGAV folder, before burning 2 different tracks? Is it that easy or might it even be impossible?

Could anyone please help by providing instructions or link to a guide?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hello,

Use isobuster to get the mpg. Then you can make a normal vcd from the mpg.

  3. The MPEG stream is corrupted and cannot be imported by any software after the ISOBuster conversion. Therefore, I need to burn the original DAT file back to a bootable VCD, without the file being checked.

    Hello,

You could try tmpgenc and demultiplex the file. Then take the files and make a new vcd.

--sorry if you already tried tmpgenc, if you did then I'm out of suggestions--

  5. To make a new VCD using conventional methods, I still have to pass the file(s) through the VCD authoring software, whether they are a program stream or elementary streams. So that's no good...

ISOBuster will not harm the file.
    If it's bad, it's bad.

You'll need to extract, then run through a repair utility. Maybe even re-encode.

  7. The MPEG stream contained within the DAT file is so corrupted that it cannot be repaired, or re-encoded; I never said ISOBuster harmed the file.

I've already tried these various suggestions, and the only logical thing left is to burn the original DAT file back to a bootable VCD, so does anyone know how??

Try renaming the .DAT file to .MPG and then use it with Nero to create a VCD. I think Nero will try to create a new .DAT file as part of its VCD creation process.

No, no, no. If you try VCDEasy, you'll see you can use the ripping tools to extract the MPG from the DAT and also extract the VCD structure from the disc and export it to an XML file which you can use to re-author a VCD with (or even simulate the structure with a DVD!). It's much more of an All-In-1 than these other methods.
