  1. I have a season of tv eps recorded in xVid. I want to fit them on 2 dvds, but I am over by about 400-500 mb. So I was wondering what program could I use to reencode them all and decrease the bit rate a little bit to reduce file size.

Thanks, there any program with batch changing?

Make your DVD, then DVDShrink it.

  3. Well I am putting 13 episodes per disc, so I cannot use DVD Shrink because I am pretty much just putting the files onto the disc. My DVD player can play xVid and DivX. Correct?

re-encode just a few to avoid making them all look bad

Top and tail them (cut the start/end titles in Vdub) and/or demux and drop the bitrate of the audio then remux.

    i second this
you may need nandub or vdubmod to handle the vbr mp3 audio

cutting off the titles and the end credits has worked for me in the past with the sopranos on 350mb episodes it turned out i skimped off the excess 50 mb by removing the start sequence and the credits off 2 episodes

  10. If you decide to cut the titles and credits you can use VirtualDub in "Direct Stream Copy" mode to avoid reencoding the video and audio. You can only cut on a key frame though.
