    Hi

I have SVCDs that i captured VHS Video and i have tried using NeroVision Express and it claimes the files are too large and the same with DVD Movie factory 3.Is there a simpler way of fitting these files in one DVD-R?I also heard that DVD Lab can do it but i dont know as the guide relates to SVCD that were from CD-R,i would like to know how to go about from a captured footage from a PC.

    Cheers

Use SVCD2DVDMPG, then author with DVDAuthorGUI or TMPGEnc DVd Author. The apps you've tried wants to reencode, that's why they say the video wont fit.

svcd2dvdmpg makes teh SVCD spec mpeg acceptable to the authoring tools (Like Tmpgenc DVD Author or DVD Lab) which otherwise would reject it / reencode it, by patching the header of the mpeg.

  5. I have put both SVCD and VCD mpgs onto a DVD using DVD-Lab without changing headers. The resultant DVD played fine in my Apex player.

VCD mpegs are (as far as video is concerned) DVD compatible. However, audio has to be upsampled to 48 kHz. TDA does this automatically.
SVCD mpegs has the wrong resolution, so not even the video pasrt should be acceptable as source when authoring. Only way to really change the resolution is to reencode (and thus lowering the quality), but authoring apps and players can be fooled by changing the horisontal resolution value in the header. An authoring app shouldn't accept a SVCD mpeg as source.

DVD Lab will accepts SVCD at standard SVCD resolution. It will also transcode the audio (DVD Lab's term for upsample). It will give you warnings about compliance, but allow you to proceed. No need to patch headers or screw with the original files.

  12. Ignore the error, and proceed. DVDLab will fix it all up.
