Help buring a DVD9 movie

i'm trying to rip this dvd-9 movie i have using dvdshrink. however, dvdshrink won't make it small enough to fit 1 disc. so now, is there some other dvd tool i can use to make it smaller? if not, what program can i use to take out the 'Extras' completely? dvdshrink won't let me do it... heres a pic just incase;

Sure it will. Hit the Re-author button. Then drag the main movie title from the right side to the left side. Voila! Main movie only. Now you can uncheck any audio or subtitle streams you don't want. Presto change-o!

In that case, you need to use either VOBBlanker, TitleSetBlanker or DVDReMake (there's also a DVDReMake Pro) to remove any unwanted elements (i.e. trailers, extras etc.) whilst keeping the menus, then use DVDShrink on the output from that.

I've used VOBBlanker to good effect...

You can always re-shrink the files that resulted from the initial shrink. Use the available quality enhancement option to improve the image if necessary.

When you reauthor, you should just select the main movie to shrink. You will loose the menu functions. In full disk mode, you should slect automatic, the size will then be set to fit a siingle dvd.

What I do is I select "Custom Ratio" for menus, extras etc. and set them as low as they will go. I leave the main movie on "Automatic". DVD Shrink will then fill up the DVD-R no bother. I also use the Deep Analysis function, and if the main movie compression is below 70% I set AEC (Adaptive Error Correction) to Maximum Smoothness. Otherwise, I leave it on Sharp (Default).

As Frunobulax has already said, if the output is still too large (which shouldn't happen) you can always simply re-shrink it.

dvdshrink will not shrink it anymore, i tried all different kinds of ratios. how can i reshrink it without burning it to a dvd-r first? i thought dvdshrink would only be able to open up dvd disc's, and not images created on your hard drive.

You can eliminate extras by deselecting them just as you would to eliminate audio soundtracks in other languages

I usually shrink to DVD files, not images. That way, if necessary, I can re-shrink.

When you run DVDShrink the second time, are you reading the original DVD or the new files created by the first run of DVDShrink?

If I understood correctly you want to keep your menus but are not interested in extras.

If so, go to the extras and click on the "+" sign to open the different extras.

Now you can select for each extra the type of compression you want:
- highlight the title
- In the top-right window (where ususally is automatic and in your first image is "mixed compression") select "Still images". It woul replace the extra with a default image that says "Feature Removed".
- This usually reduces the title to 10 to 20% of the compressed size.
- Repeat for other titles in the Extras

Looking at your original DVD it would be enough to get within the size limit .

Just select automatic for everything. Chances are the quality will be fine even if it indicates that compression will be 60%. If you select custom ratio for most things, you will end up with a files that is too big. If you don't want the extras, but do want the menu, you can either use vob blanker, or select still photo for that extra. But you should leave the main movie on automatic.

I never use the still photo option, as it takes up too much space, and I never saw the point of killing an extra to replace it with photos anyway.

I have a couple of things I use instead

1. A black bitmap. This gives you the smallest replacement of the lot.

2. Custom still using a photo or poster taken from the movie, reminding me that the extras have been removed or shifted to a second disk.

3. Studio logo still fulfilling the same roles as item 2.

Any of these will eat a lot less space that still photos.
