  1. Hi everyone,

I have a Panasonic DMR-E60 and have been using panasonic & tdk dvd-r discs to do my recording. I need to buy some more discs and was thinking about getting some ritek GO4 discs, but there are so many made by ritek I don't know which one to choose. It doesn't matter if there not printable as long as they record good, are good quality and don't cost to much. Also i've been reading topics about ritek not being as good as they used to be, if so is this still the case. I was also thinking of getting some dvd-r accu or optodiscs, has anyone used either of these and how do they compare to ritek discs now. Any info would be much appreciated.

    Thanks & happy burning

  2. Get some 1xto4xAccus from meritline.com I use them & they work great. Play in any dvd player I put them in. Weird thing is the price of white printable 1xto4x (your recorder can use 1x disks) went from around $95 to $34 per hundred, this i know cause I ordered some friday.

  3. Thanks for replying handyguy. Haven't tried any dvd-r accu discs before but heard they were quite good. What's your opinion on the quality of ritek discs at this time. Anyone else got a view on this please let me know your thoughts.

    Many thanks & happy burning

I've burned 300+ of the branded Riteks and haven't had a coaster yet.

  5. My only coasters with Ritek G03 or G04 printables so far were hardware related and all happened at once. Got it fixed now and nw more coasters, (yet).

  6. Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of buying some ritek G04's because i have read some good posts about this media in the past year or so, but I'm not so sure whether to get some now cause of problems some people have been having. Is this just a bad batch thing that have been produced or is the quality of ritek G04's not as good as they used to be. Would I be chucking money down the toilet or is it worth buying this media ?. Also can you get non printable ritek GO3 & GO4's.

    Many thanks & happy burning

My DMR-E50 hates anything made by Ritek - G03, G04 and Ridata. I was happily using Maxell branded and everything was fine. No coasters at all, in about 300 burns. The Media ID was TYG01 (Taiyo Yuden 4X).

Then, all of a sudden, it won't start the recording and instead goes to the "RECOVER" display, meaning a failed burn.

I checked the Media ID and they were Ritek G04.

So I went to straight TY 8X (TYG02) and it's happy again. No coasters.

In the meantime, my Pioneer A107D successfully burns everything I've given it. Not a single coaster since July 18 when I bought the new PC. TY, Ritek, Optodisc ...it doesn't care.

I'm convinced each piece of hardware is completely different in the area of media likes and dislikes. Even in the same model number, anecdotal evidence from this board suggests that nothing is a sure thing until you get it home, fire it up, and experiment with many different media brands.

Honestly, it seems more and more like it just depends on the person. Some people like me love Ritek discs and never have a problem. Others can't burn them for crap. I say stick with name brands that you know a bunch of people have done well with and see how they work. I've had some great results with Verbatim discs, but others say they suck.

Just try some out and see how they do.

  10. totally agree with you..but my problem is that i like lending out my disks to friends and some of their players don't play the name brand disks..these prodiscs play in everything so far..even portables

  11. Thanks for the replies ppl. I might give the ritek GO4's a try, but i'll probably end up keep using tdk unless the panny discs become dirt cheap.

    Thanks & happy burning
