My PC is a large distance away from the source so rather than get a longer scart cable (don't think you can get them that long anyway) - since it would lose too much quality - I wondered if you can get firewire cables of great length?

It needs to be 6 pin to 4 pin.

And I am looking at 30m?

Is that far too long and impossible to get? (I saw one American site that stocks them - but they seem very pricey) and would quality loss be inevitable anyway?

    I am in the UK.

    Is it too expensive?

Or would the cheaper option be to get a long scart cable (scart out on one end and the red, white and yellow wires on the other)? What's the quality loss going to be like?

Moving the PC closer to the sattelite box is not an option.

it is better to use a repeater for over 30 feet (10 meters) ..

and yes -- high quality long cables are expensive ..

  3. I am using a 14ft cable I bought for $7 at the computer fair. I have not noticed any apparent problems. It is running my ADS Pyro AV Link. I would think any longer you may need the repeater.
