Are you making a DVD? If so, then just make two mpegs and author them together onto one disk. There will be a slight pause between tracks.

Join the 2 video streams together, then load the 2 audio streams into Audacity and cut/splice the audio around the point of the transition so that the audio matches the video. Match the timestamp of the audio to the timestamp of the video at a notable part (i.e. a gunshot) Then mux the audio and video together.

I don't want to appear dumb or be a pain in the **** but I need more detail. If you have the time I would really appreciate a more indepth guide to using Audacity. I joined the avi's together using Vdub and then saved the audio as a wav file and then loaded this into Audacity but all I seem to be able to get is a squeeky noise. Am I on the right tracks or completely wrong??
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated
Cheers guys -
Are you sure you have a ligitimite .WAV file? (I haven't every really needed to deal with demuxing avi's as I always start with my DVDs so I am not overly familiar with vdubs demux capabilities) Open the WAV file in a regular player (like winamp, or zoomplayer) and make sure that it plays alright and it shows that it is acually a wav file and not a different format that just had its extension changed to .WAV. If it plays in a player then it should work without hassle in Audacity.
Audacity's help index is HERE. I really don't use it all that much so I can't really give good help with it.
Did you try Import RAW Data? It might work.

What kind of audio is contained in the original avi files. ac3, vbr, etc? -

AC3 audio - does this make a difference?? -
Laddydaddy - that worked FANTASTIC thanx very very much.
However I now have another avi with an audio which is Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 (whatever that means), and the same thing is happening. Can you work your magic again?? Pleeeeeease???
Many thanx. -
That means you have mp3 audio compressed with Fraunhofer mp3 codec. Repeat the procedure above, skipping "audio>compression_ac3 acm decompressor" step. Well, good luck.

Hi. I've also had trouble before with joining .avi's together and having out of sync audio after it's reached the part where the two .avi's were joined. Currently I have two files with .ac3 audio I'm trying to join. I tried Laddydaddy's method and downloaded and installed AC3 ACM decompressor. I load in my avi and set the audio to 'full processing mode' then I go to compression and set it to 'ac3 acm decompressor'. When I try to save it as a .wav file as soon as I hit the save button I get this error message, "Error initializing audio stream compression: The requested conversion is not possible." Can anybody help me and tell me what I might be doing wrong or what I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi again,
I have followed the instructions given before and up until now they have worked great. However, i now have come across another problem. Again I have a two part avi but when i try to load them into Vdub i get a message saying audio samples differ. I decompress the audio and resave the avis. I can then join them in Vdub BUT when I replay the whole file it goes out of synch from the point of the join. Any ideas.
Many thanx
