Hard to explain more when you didnt give any of the important info needed such as type of files and what s/w you are using

If there isn't too much difference in framrate then smm9127 might get away with "Direct Stream Copy".

Framerate has to be exact and im only talking about audio, unless the video is of different resolutions then you would use video full processing but always use video direct stream copy as the first option but the original poster hasnt mentioned if he/she is using virtualdub and if the files are avi.

What are you going to do with the file after you join it?Is it going to be burned to cd as data or encoded to svcd or as dvd compliant files and then authored as a dvd?

No need to join them then, encode them to dvd compliant mpgs and import them into a dvd authoring program like tmpgenc dvd author, you can load them into the same track and they will be joined in the authoring process.

As much as i hate to smack my own hand, i'll say that you should stick to one method or the other.

You can choose "Full Processing Mode" in VirtualDub OR "Direct Stream Copy", but not both.

I know for a fact that johns0's suggestion will work, but i thought i could save a little time and space by suggesting that you change the framrate without reencoding.

If there's just a minor difference in framrate with two identically encoded files, you don't have to reencode them.

But now that you have 2 gigs of uncompressed video, you should continue with the original plan.

gastorgrab,i think you are off the target, its not 2 gig of video but 2 gigs of pcm audio mainly with video and nothing to do with different framerates, its just the audio that was being discussed.

  13. The encoder i have is WinAVI and if you encode 2 files together is makes them VOBs as 2 different tracks so i dont think it will work

If that works then use that method, tmpgenc dvd author was just a suggestion.
