    I have tried the Virtualdub 'Append AVI Segment' method which doesnt work for different sampling rates.

    So my only other option is to extract the audio and join the video and audio files separately which seems very time consuming for what should be a simple process of joining 2 files together. Is there a program that ill do it in one go even with different sampling rates?

  2. AVI doesn't allow for changes in audio sampling rates in the middle of the file. One will have to be converted. It's easy to do in VirtualDub:

    File -> Open Video File
    Video -> Direct Stream Copy
    Audio -> Full Processing Mode
    Audio -> Convert -- select proper settings
    Audio -> Compression -- set same codec and settings as other file
    File -> Save as AVI

    It'll probably take 5 to 10 minutes to recompress the audio.

    File -> Open Video File
    Video -> Direct Stream Copy
    Audio -> Full Processing Mode (R click on the audio, select 'Full processing mode'.)
    Audio -> Convert -- select proper settings (You probably just need to change the sampling rate to the same as the other file. If the format is different, you will need to use 'Compression' instead.)
    Audio -> Compression -- set same codec and settings as other file (If the audio file is MP3, then you may want to add the Lame MP3 ACM codec as it will give you more settings than the default one.)
    File -> Save as AVI

    In VD if you go to 'File>File information', you should see the attributes of the audio and video, including the sample rate, etc., for comparing the two files. You can also do this with Gspot 2.70.

  6. You probably figured it out, but rather than Audio -> Convert, it's Audio -> Conversion. Sorry.

    If you're using VirtualDubMod the audio handling is a little different. Use the Streams menu and select Stream List. Right click on the audio stream to get the Audio options.

    I actually sorted it very simply with vdub mp3 freeze. It doesnt give the sampling rate errors that normal vdub does.
