Just opened up my box from Crutchfield. They did a great job by double-boxing. I don't know if retailer does this.

Anyhow, there was some mention by others that their JVC was made in China. The one I have was manufactured in April 2004 in Japan.

BTW, if anyone is interested in a $20 coupon PM me. Combined with $10 coupon for using your VISA card and free shipping, the cost comes to $369. Not as good as eCost but for a purchase like this, I didn't want any hassles if I need to make a return for some reason.

  2. Just out of curiosity, I wonder whether anyone has an M10 that was made in Japan in May 2004. All of the posts I've seen on this subject indicate "made in Japan in April" or "made in China in May".

I got 2 JVC DM-R10S from eCost. One was made in Japan, April 2004. Another one was made In China, May 2004. I opened both of them up, could not find any difference. I also used them 1 week each. No difference in fuctionality either. The macine was very well made. I think most of parts were made in Japan, Just shipped over to China for assembly starting in May to save the labor cost. The unit consisted of a drive-motherboard unit, preprocessing unit, power supply boards and fan. There is no indication of country origin on the parts, but looks the same to me.

  7. The replacement they gave me is May and Japan also. Maybe the ones from China are going to the online retailers where they sell them for less. I bought mine from a local store.
