Country code is not set but I am not aware of problems after several months of reading and writing CD's and DVD's.
What problems could arise?
I want family and friends in several countries to be able to read CD's and DVD's that I send them. Problems?
Thanks.

Most PAL country's players can easily read NTSC DVDs...that should not be a problem. DVDs you make yourself are region free(I think you already know that though)....so that will not be a problem.
I can't think of any problems with CDs.....especially audio CDs.
