    CD didn't die when DVD came out, so no... DVD is going to be around for quite a while, I think. CDs are way too in demand to die out, because of music and computer discs. DVD is used for movies, and Playstation 2 games so those aren't going anywhere. For HDTV movies, though, that's what FMDs are going to be good for.

  3. I've been hearing about this great technology for a while. I think Sefy posted something about it a while back.

    If this comes out any time soon and is at a reasonable price, it would dominate the market.

    That isn't really a valid comparison IMHO. Laserdisk never really took off in the first place, so naturally it was easy to kill off.

    VHS is a better comparison - and is very much still with us.

    I thought that CD was meant to kill 12"...
    Who cares anyway?
    If it takes then it takes off... It wont be any time in the near future though - and affordable it aint.

If you ever read my long running topic, you would notice that i've mentioned the 140gb discs long long long time ago, called FMD-ROM, and nobody got excited back then either, maybe when if finally comes out, then people's mouth will drop open and they will go, mmm... how many minutes I can put on this using VCD
