    Hi there,

I've been using tmpgenc version 2.5 to enocde (S)VCDs and I haven't had a problem ever. Now when I've been trying to encode avi to dvd format I keep getting an error message stating "error writing stream" and always in the last 20 or so minutes of the encoding which VBR 2 pass.

I've had this with 2 different avi files and when I've checked them in virtualdub and there hasn't been a problem. I know I have enough disk space but this error seems to have come from out of the blue. I use the dvd templates in tmpgenc and unlock them to set the bit rate of the audio/video.

Is it me or the software?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance

yeah my drive is fat32 and the file that is output size of the mpeg2 that I do get when the error occurs is 3.99GB. I'm also using Windows 98SE. Hope this helps.

the fat32 file limit is 4 gb. you could lower the video bitrate in tmpgenc and make a smaller file or convert to two video files.

or upgrade to win2k/xp/linux and use ntfs/linuxjhadkh partitions.

Thanks a lot for that, it's certainly taken away the frustration factor now that I know what the problem is.

    Cheers
