  1. I've captured some footage from my DVB pci card straight not my hard drive in MPEG2. It is captured at 720 x 576 (PAL) in 16:9 format with a bit rate around 5.5mb/sec..(Checked with avicodec)

I run it through the editor to cut out the bits I don't want...nothing is re-sampled, and I get an MPEG ready to put into TMPGEnc DVD Author.

I notice when I import the files into there, that it says 720 x 576 (4:3) in the information box.

The DVD authors fine and plays back just fine, but when I run avicodec over the vob's, the resolution now shows 2.21:1..

What is 2.21:1? It looks fine on my 16:9 TV??

are you sure it doesn't mess up the headers? you can use dvdpatcher to change it.
