I have just managed to configure my webcam so it will record live video onto my hard drive. Now, all I need is to figure out a couple of things. The maximum resolution that this webcam will record in is 640x480, so that presents a problem in terms of making the video a DVD-Video compliant size. So how do I go about that? The footage I intend to shoot will be silent (unless I find a way to impose music over it, which is something I'd love to know how to do, too), and it will probably be quite grainy, so it will need plenty of disc space. At most, I'd estimate I could fit about 74 minutes on the disc, not including space for menus. Is it worth adding menus?
Okay, that's my allowance of dumb questions for the time being.![]()

For a webcam its best to encode at 352x576 which is a compliant dvd resolution and will be good enough quality. To get sound what i do is use my microphone as the sound source when capturing with my webcam. With the lower resolution you can add tons of menus,3000 kbps is a good enough bitrate.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
I've thought about doing that, but it doesn't solve the problem of the video only being 480. To go to 576, I'd have to add redundant areas to the image, so I might as well add some to the sides and windowbox the whole thing. Once I figure out that part, it's just a case of making the video and being done with it.
