  1. I have a number of avi's that I have from various sources that are encoded with "DivXNetworks Divx v5" video codec according to AVIcodec.

I cannot get them to play any video on my PC with any program other than DivX Player, and I cannot get TMpegenc to show the video either, no matter what combo/priority I have directshow etc in enviro settings.

I have DivX 5 codec installed on my PC, so I must be missing the point, as no amount of trying works.

Is the "DivXNetworks Divx v5" a different codec to DivX 5?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I use the DIVX codec 5.1.1.1031 and it works with Media Player Classsic and Zoom Player, which is my favorite. VideoLan should also work. As far as I know DIVX v5 is the same as DivX5. If you are just clicking on the DIVX file, it is probably associating with the DIVX player. Install one of the other players above and see if they will load the files instead.
