While trying to convert a avi file
( GSpot V2.21 = xvid,640x272 (2.35:1) [=40:17],FPS23.976,0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3,160 kb/s (80/ch, stereo) VB ),
with TMPGenc Plus it has stopped after 11 sec. with the error message ( Index of scan line is out of range(272) ).Does anyone have a clue what this means.
before i started converting the avi., I loaded it up in Virtual Dub Mod and Demux. Once that was finished I loaded that Demux file in Goldwave and saved it as the appropriate wav , then loaded that it in with the avi. in TMPGenc Plus. THis is how I do all my convertions and it always seems to work if i dont do this i run in to all kinds of problems.

you could try to frameserve with virtualdub, open the vds file in tmpgenc as your video source.
Edit: Sorry, make that a VDR file -
I am curious at how this will make a difference? I mean what does that do...........I mean if i dont edit it or something it will be the exact same video whether served or not right?

It would take you 10 seconds to try it, but you choose to post instead, ok
Virtualdub will be the one to decompress the xvid file for you, and MAYBE it can do it beter than tmpgenc.

Have you checked the source file for bad frames?

Try increasing the piority of the Directshow plugin under environmental settins a notch or two. Sometimes that helps.

Ok, another suggestion. Try changing the fourcc code to DIVX. This means it will be decoded by the divx codec rather than the xvid codec (they are supposed to be compatible).
Or download and install the latest version of xvid if you havn't got it already.
