I am still having problems trying to get my 2 hour F1 races that I have recorded directly on my HDD onto DVD in PAL format. I now have 7 such races on my HDD.

I have tried 2 different settings but the files still keep coming out too large.

    My settings are:

    MPEG-2 Codec
    352 x 288 and/or 720 x 576
    Bitrate 600Kbps
    Frame rate 25.000fps
Audio Codec: MPEG-1 Audio layer II
    Bitrate: 224 kbps

Is there something obvious in the above information that I am doing incorrectly?

I really don't know what I am doing even though I have tried to read all the available information.

Any helpful comments would be very much appreciated.

Try lowering your video bitrate if you can...(2 hours of video=approx 4800kbps to fit on one DVD...)

this info comes from here: https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm

I too struggled with the "right" capture settings to get movies onto one DVD without "shrinking" them...maybe the guides at www.digitalfaq.com for capturing MPEG will help?

Try Half D1 resolution which is 352x576

Full D1 resolution (720x576) might look pixelated at the bitrate needed to fit 2 hours per DVD especially since there will be a lot of fast motion.

Half D1 should look fine though.

The resolution 352x288 is way too low for decent quality even at the highest of bitrates the resolution just sucks!

    P.S.
When using Half D1 resolution (352x576) with a video bitrate of 4800kbps you will be happy to know that doing a straight CBR one-pass encode is all you need. Doing a 2-pass or multipass VBR encode at that resolution and bitrate is a bit overkill.

    Thanks for the feedback

That option is not available on the WinFast TV 2000 XP pick list

    Any suggestions?
