cant play subtitles

hi there,
my problem is that vobsub appears automatically when i play the movie
but i cant see subs i tried to dubble click an configure
i tried every thing - removed and reinstalled vobsub
nothing seems to help
i think it because i have a bad codec installed
is it possible?
is there a way to uninstall all the codecs?
