Which subtitles format i.e .srt or sub/idx will be recognized by the DVD Players.

	That would depend entirely on the DVD player(s) in question - not all of them support the same formats, or even have subtitle support at all (for AVI/MPEG/etc. files). 
 
 The most widely-supported format is probably the plain-text .srt, with no formatting (there's an unofficial version of .srt that attempts to add formatting through HTML codes, and so forth, but I don't think any DVD player supports that).If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

	You cannot use these formats for DVD Video playback either, only along side AVI/MPG files, if the player supports them. If you want to use these subs with a DVD Video you would have to mux them into the DVD structure. There are several guides for this.
