  1. It seems to me that each time I use DVDINFOPro, i get read errors on different sectors of the same disk. Using Nero CDSpeed usually gives me a clean read on the same exact disks (but not always). However, when played on my stand alone DVD player, the movies play fine, but will skip/freeze on my portable DVD player.

These are with RICOHJPNR01, CMC, and MCC disks. All 2 DVD readers (a Sony and a BTC - can't remeber model numbers), an Optorite DD0401 and HP 300i gave the same "consistent" inconsistencies.

Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

are these errors on different sectors close toghether? sometimes it finds different sectors of the same block defected but if it's really different sectors then it is weird.. i just ran a check on a disc which had 13 errors and now it has 7... it's not accurate science - just an estimation of data validity.
With all due respect... and there is respect...

  3. THE CMC disks may just be unstable (they are at the bottom of the heap regarding disks)

MCC and RICOH are good and should not exhibit this type of unstability. Possibly a dirty lens -- are they older drives?

  4. Well, the errors are random, sometimes at the beginning of the disk, sometimes at the end - rarely do I get error blocks in the exact same block. The drives are about 6 months old. I'll run a lens cleaning disk on them and see, but I've had this problem for a while, so I'm not sure if dirty lens is the problem.

  5. I think NERO has a scanning program as well... you may want to give it a try... also, check for a later version DVDInfoPro
