    Hello all,

I went and did it. With all the negative BS from people like 500AX, I decided to spend $26.99 at newegg.com and try these G04's. I always use some brand of RICHOJPNR01. I want to try some -R media for a change with my newly hacked lite on 812S@832S--thanks code65536!!!!

I bought these last week. So far, a dozen burn in either a rebadged BenQ DW822A, or a NEC 2500, but none will burn in the NEC 1300a.

Too bad, the 1300 is the one at home. The others are at work.

Apparently, so is my NEC1300. Never had a problem with TDK, Memorex, Sony, or Fuji. Guess I'll just burn them at work!

Update: the replacement spindle is working flawlessly so far, 5 burns done and 1 in progress. I probably won't buy Ritek again for awhile, but I'm glad that this spindle seems to work fine.

Edit: Disc 6 and 7 blech. Calling NewEgg...

I bought once cake from newegg too after reading the "RMA" thread I thought it followed the classic script of a crank rumor.

I have burned thirty so far, not one coaster not one read error. Some kids material has already been handled and played a dozen times on various players and I had the kids look for freezes, articfacts etc., no problems.

One more thing my home burner is also a NEC 1300a (ND-1300a) OEM in an eMachines 2625, I probably have burned close to 500 dvd's on this unit without cleaning etc, and I burned fine and verified at 4x.

@aero - What firmware are you running on your 1300a? The rebadged BenQ and the NEC 2500 both burned at almost 6x, and no read errors, but still no joy on the 1300a on both firmware 1.07 and 1.0b. I had a problem with my CPU temps which is fixed now, so I might try them again on the 1300.

  21. Are those Ritek's from newegg branded? I got some of the branded ones from meritline and they work great. No burn problems, and they play perfect. If they are branded I'll pick up a couple from newegg at that price with free shipping!! Seems like a great deal to me.

    as there grade B media,not grade A.
so they are really, the best of bad batches.
maybe printing wasnt complete, maybe surface failed tests.who knows.
    but there not gradeA.

aero - is that the original 1.05, or one of Herrie's? I would think if you could write to them with yours, I should be able to with mine. I tried with an original NEC 1.07, and Herrie's 1.0b. Still can't be sure yet it's not related to the cpu temp problem I had. I'll try to retest that tonight or tomorrow.

  26. I'd be surpised if they were REAL BAD because NEWEGG would be getting alot ofCrummy Reviews on them...and they are NOT!
79 people reviewing them is good enough for me ...and I always expect a few people to have problems ... because it could be their BURNER, Computer, Software, or NEWBIE error.
    Quote Quote
  27. Newegg removes bad reviews, but i don't think they remove it from the average.
    Quote Quote
  28. do you think NewEgg would remove Negative Reviews ...seems like that would be deceptive practice?
I could see them editing some posts if people BADMOUTH newegg personally, but , the Product?
Have people here not seen their BAD Review of Products not show up on NewEGG?!

Update: I read all the reviews from NewEgg on this Product LINK and 2 people gave it bad review (saying after a few weeks stopped working in dvd player and someone else said something else) but everyone else gave it 5 stars ... page after page after page of 5 stars(with only 2 people showing less than 5 stars)! So I guess NewEgg allows some negative reviews to be shown ...and for alot of other products ...alot of Negative Reviews!

attached is a screenshot from DVDINFOPRO. my first burn was riddled with errors as i am using a lit on 812s@832s in a Sony DRU 510A external enclosure. this burn was doone at work with a toshiba laptop, 2.4 P4, 1 gig ram. that first burn was done at 8X. this media is 4X and the next two burns were flawless!!!! this media from newegg has the ridata logo with an arrow pointing right. i will buy more of this if burns from the middle and bottom of the spindle are good. i will post further results.

edit: i can't seem to get the DVDINFO shot to upload. it is under 50KB--any suggestions???

  30. I bought my first batch of G04's from newegg in April but they were the all shiny ones with no labeling on them that cost 39.99 now. I dont know if the 26.99 ones are the same as these but I have burned almost 100 of the other G04's with one coaster that was my fault. Last night I bought one spindal of the cheaper ones to see how they work but I'm guessing that the only reason that they are cheaper is because they are branded and not because the quality is any lower. I have to say that I'm very happy with Ritek's quality, all of the -R dvd's have played in everything I've put them in and after checking about 20 of them for errors using DVDinfo, none were found. So if I notice any difference between the G04's that I've been using to the ones I will be getting I'll let all of you know if they are grade B or not? Hopefully not!!
