  1. do you think NewEgg would remove Negative Reviews ...seems like that would be deceptive practice?

They do remove bad reviews, it says so on their site

    This is from NewEgg's site:
Newegg.com is not a forum for product reviews. For product reviews, we recommend sites such as www.cnet.com, www.anandtech.com, and www.tomshardware.com. Newegg.com is a private site that conducts the business of selling computer hardware and as such, any specifications and information posted by Newegg.com regarding products for sale must be factual. However, customer comments in regards to their experience with said products are the opinions of the user. The customer opinion reviews are used at the discretion of Newegg.com as a marketing device for positive and constructive ways to share the benefit of the product. It is not used as a source for negative commentary as we cannot endorse the validity of any negative comment. Therefore, the Newegg.com site is moderated to remove any unproven biased negative comments. It is not the intention of Newegg.com to mislead any customer and therefore
all purchase decisions should not be solely based on the customer review.

If they censure people Bad-mouthing NewEgg or talk about illegal stuff or hacking of product ... then that would be ok ... but if they don't show how people actually are doing with the PRODUCT ...that's BAD! IMHO.

They don't remove bad reviews. I see two very negative reviews I placed up there for a couple of products still there.

Their policy on reviews looks exactly like amazon's.

  4. Guys calm down. I'm not bad mouthing newegg. I never said they remove ALL negative reviews. I'm just saying they do remove negative reviews from time to time. Who determines what is "unproven biased negative comments"? Besides they tell you straight out that you should not use these reviews to base a purchase on. Do you own research.

If NewEgg is just Deleting LAME Stuff that people are Posting ...that is one thing ... but if they are Deleting a lot of Negative stuff ... I would like to know. And I know I'm not alone.

If it's a Marketing Tool to get me to feel that the product is GOOD and they are NOT letting me know that LOTS of Folks are having problems ... that's not good!

Some people on this Forum have been stating they are having problems with G4's but I was just thinking it was just a FEW Negative posts ... and Trusting the Comments on NEWEGG ... but ... now I don't know what to think?

I would feel better if NewEgg had a Garbage Bin with all the stuff they Don't think is "Right" ... under each product ... so we all can judge for ourselves if the "garbage bin's" opinions are valid .

I could see how their practice could in the HANDS of someone who was NOT ethical ... condition us into Buying Based on those comments. And since it's not that obvious they do censure ... for legal reasons they have to write their Practice so they don't get sued.

So I would still be interested in finding out how many people here have not seen their Negative Reviews listed on NewEgg?

  7. I just received 4 packs yesterday and burned 5 dvd's at 4x without any problems useing A06 and Nero 6 .... tested to make sure no skipping or playback issues. They seem excellent ! It has the Ridata Brand on them and seem fancier then the RED WRAPED Ridata I usually buy from NewEgg.
    I'm Happy!
I'll let everyone know if things change!

  8. If you guys are referring to these Ritek G04s:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-132-341&depa=0, the 2 50packs I bought a few weeks work perfectly. Not a single coaster and I've used almost 60 of them already. Zero read errors on dvdinfopro. And I've even burnt the last 10 of them at 8x w/ my NEC 2500a.

What is the difference between them?

    Besides the packaging and price.

26.99 (cakebox) and 39.99 (red wrapping)

aero - is that the original 1.05, or one of Herrie's? I would think if you could write to them with yours, I should be able to with mine. I tried with an original NEC 1.07, and Herrie's 1.0b. Still can't be sure yet it's not related to the cpu temp problem I had. I'll try to retest that tonight or tomorrow.

i guess if you have a pioneer or nec drive, these discs work well. they do not work well with lite on 811, 812, or 812@832. i will stick with RICHOJPNR01 as they burn great.

I hope you get lucky and you get the TY's for 42.99 but some are reporting that they are getting BeALL's instead ( and BeAll's are not worth 42.99).

My 4 spindles came today and I've burned on 3 discs so far with no problems. They work great! I have an LG-4040B burner.

  19. I purchased these discs from Meritline, not Egghead, but I believe they are the same - in the cake with the arrow.
Anyway, I have burned hundreds of the old style w/o ever having a bad one, now out of the first 15 I have had 2 bad discs. I purchased 100 and I will run them all and see, but I hope this isn't a trend. I will post back after I run the 100 and let everyone know my results.

  20. About a month ago I too ordered some of these "Ridata" discs from Newegg...mostly based on the extremely positive feedback from users on the Newegg page.

I tried to burn one with my Sony DRU-510a (1.1a firmware), using BurnAtOnce burning software. Not a single one would burn....zero. I got a "OPC Failed" indicator. I thought to myself, "big bummer, waste of money, should have stuck with TDK". I continued to use the TDK -R discs I picked up at Costco for $1.20 each and set aside the Ridata discs. The TDK discs would burn with exactly the same setup 100% of the time. The only problems I had with the TDK discs was they would occasionally break up a bit with two Panasonic players, one that belonged to me, another at a friend house. No biggie since the Panasonic unit is in the kids room.

Then I got a free trial of another burning program called "Nero 6.0" and fooled around with it. It too burned the TDK discs great. Then one day I saw the Ridata discs sitting there and thought "I wonder" and gave one of them a try. To my surprise it burned one perfectly!!! No way! I tried burning another, but the second one had a quite a bit of breakup toward the end of the DVD. The third burn of a Ridata only had slight breakup, the fourth played perfectly. I still did not think much of Ridata media at that point.

But the other day I remember another program that came bundled with my computer. I had used this program a couple of times to burn data CD's, but I recalled it also burns DVD's. It is called "NTI DVD Maker Platinum". I opened it up and tryed burning a Ridata -R with it. It came out perfectly! I ended up burning five.....ALL PERFECT!!! They play perfectly even on both of the Panasonic machines. No break up and play strong on every stand alone machine I can throw at it (Toshiba, Pioneer, Onkyo, Panasonic)

OK people....could it be that the big difference with all the media problems folks are having here is really BURNING SOFTWARE problems????? I am just a rookie here (100 burns). I am sure many of the more knowledgeable users here can shed some light on this!
