Without knowing what you are running it is a little difficult to help, but here goes. If you are running W2K or XP go to Control Panel / Network Connections. Open that up and right click on Local Area Connections (assuming you have DSL or cable). Select properties, on the general tab, highlight Internet Protocol, select properties. Then on the next general tab select Advanced at the bottom, select the Options tab, click on properties, this will allow you to configure your ports. Of course, if you have some sort of internet security software this is much easier to do. I have Pc-Cillin which I can easily set what ports I allow to have data coming in, out or both. Hope this helps.

  4. Regular? That all depends on the user....

Do you just want HTML? port 80
Do you want secure HTML? port 443

I could go on and on....Why not install a firewall like zone alarm and set it to admins then stop all traffic you don't want?

This may seem like a dumb question, but if your sister in law is getting viruses from KaZaA, why not just stop using it instead of trying to block the port it uses?

Anyway, the default port for KaZaA is 1214, the port you use most is 80, for your web browsing (http).

If you used eMule instead of KaZaA, you wouldn't have the problems that everyone has with KaZaA and you'd get better downloads.

Yes if you give more info this will help. Are you useing a router, some of them will let you block certian ports.
If you can't figure it out on the computer, maybe getting a router will do it.

i did everything you guys told me to do, i went into the network properties section, and made post 80 the only accessible and still, when i went to download kazaa, then installed it, then removed the option to make port 80 the other port available, if the default isn't open, i was still able to donwload from kazaa...what must i do now, i heard pc-cillin is good
