  1. Hi all

I want to make a music DVD containing many different video clips BUT when added together they are more than 4gig in size.

Can I just use TMPGEnc DVD Author to make the OUTPUT FILE and then use DVD Shrink to shrink that file to fit onto a 4gig DVD-R disc?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks.

When TDA says it's too big just click ignore , and it will create your oversized project. Then Shrink to fit.

    A DVD-R can hold almost 4.38GB.

    .
TDA will create projects up to the size of a Dual layer DVD (~9Gigs), but not more. Shrinking anything that big to a DVDr would probably look like s**t anyway.

You'll have a hell of a job trying to sqeeze down anything that big to fit on a single DVD, I tried fitting 6 50 minute epsiodes on a single DVD

Your right about TMPGenc DVD Author, just ignore the warning, and it will author that oversized DVD, then run it through a transcoder

I tried DVD2One 1.4 and Intervideo DVD Copy 2, neither could transcode about 9-10GB of data down to the size needed for burning to a single DVD-R

They both nearly managed it, but not quite, about 500MB over, so had to put 4 episodes per DVD, plus I wanted to see just how far I could push the software

Reason : I'm just too tight

So, you're looking at about a maximum of 4 1/2 to 5 hours of whatever (movies, episodes, etc, etc) DVD ripped stuff to make sure it fits on a single DVD-R

This is where dual layer media will come in handy !!

Apparently the next release of TMPGenc DVD Author will support duel layer. I assume they mean author and burning in one software package

I now use DiscJuggler 4 Pro for DVD, as I was getting fed up of Nero burning them fine, but then the DVD refusing to play in my player, burned using DiscJuggler plays perfectly .... weird

Also, Nero refused to burn every Ritek G04 overprint Grade 'A' I bought at x4, but DiscJuggler burns the same media at x4 perfectly

I have two types of Ritel G04 x4 media, the Orange overprints (which Nero won't burn at x4, but will at x2) and the media I've used previously which Nero will burn at x4, but started refusing to play in my home DVD player, the plain inkjet printable

Strange thing is, if I burn the orange Ritek's at x4 simulate, Nero reports it as succesfull, burn with simulate off, it whinges about a calibration error and produces coasters everytime. Drop to x2, burns happily and plays happily...... even stranger

So, now use DiscJuggler Pro for DVD, Nero for CD
