  1. Hi Guys,

I've been slowly ripping my DVD collection to play with XBMC, after lots of playing about I've been using AnyDVD to rip the dvd's straight, XBMC seems to handle multiple VOB files fine, further converting the files to make them smaller, seemed a bit pointless at the time, it takes ages and NAS drives are cheap and high capacity now, so why bother?!?

SO that all works fine, I now also have a sony bs 370 blu ray that can also stream the films from the NAS, only problem is it displays all the files in the Video_Ts folder, and you manually have have to select the right VOB file, something you dont have to do with XBMC. I realise that's a limitation of the player and the way I've ripped the DVD's, but is there way I can help things along a bit? I don't want to do any major conversion or anything that going to put the original quality at risk, can the VOB files be merged ( I know there's software to do it) in a way that isn't going to compromise the original in anyway, or down the line going to cause me any further/different problems?

    cheers!

You could join the main vobs with vobmerge. Or use vob2mpg and make a single mpg. No video reconversion.

And I would search in http://www.avforums.com/forums/blu-ray-players/1296053-sony-bdp-s370-owners-thread-part-2-a-9.html and see what other uses.

If you're not planning on reburning the video_ts folders why not rename the vob file to the name of the movie or tv show? (but you would leave the extension .vob of course)
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
