Just bought some Datawrite yellow (V2) X4 DVD-R, as was told they are ritek
No probs I thought, but they won't burn @ X4
from the disc info I take it it's because of the "Available Write Descriptor" only being X2 max, using optorite dd203 (with latest 2.5FW)

Anybody eles using these? would like to here somebodys coments
Or any media guru's like to comment on whats going on?

BTW the burns have bee 100% so far (about 18 burns), getting f*#king fed up with all this media shit

  2. These are 8X Riteks, as is indicated by the G05 code. My guess is that your firmware does not recognize them and you will have to wait until Optorite catches up. They haven't been out that long as I recall. Good luck.
Still a few bugs in the system...

Yea thats what I thought, last FW update was issued in feb for the 203, all other drives have had newer FW released but not the 203
have sent email to optorite but no resoonse yet.

Have herd that the drive can be flashed with the hacked MSI FW from the 'Dangerous brothers' website, can I afford to risk it? MMmmmm

Guess I'm pretty lucky I got the 201. I get to have Optorite's most mature firmware, for any of their drives! That's sort of how I planned it though.

I think you'l find the 203 was there 1st drive, then they released the 201 (backwards or what)
