  1. I am trying to make an avi from a dvd. The movie is 1hr 53min 19sec long. I followed the guide(s) on the forum and have tried with dvdx and SimpleDivX the problem is diffrant but both are not working.

The problem with dvdx is encoding will go to the 1hr 53min 19sec but final avi is only 1hr 38min. and the audio is not in sync.

The problem with SimpleDivX is it produces a 1hr 43min. avi with the audio out of sync. If I view the video in the temp folder it is 1hr 43min but the audio file is 1hr 53min 19sec long.

  2. I had a similar problem when I backed up my dvd Signs. What I did was changed the video input. I used dvdx2.2. When you load the dvd into dvdx and the "input settings" window pops up, in the "output frame rate" select "23.976(NTSC)" and then put a check mark on "Force 24Hz". That is what I did and the final avi that I got was the length that I wanted, rather than shorter, like what you got. Try that and let me know if that worked. I hope that helps.

  3. Thank you for your response. But NO GO.

It still will end short. If I deselect detect progr 24hz with force 24hz checked i get the oppisit the AVI will ru long. With both checked it stops short.

    Thank you,

  4. Try AutoGK - it's easier to use than dvdx and simpledivx, and it produces better quality rips in my opinion as I have tried all three.

  5. Thank you,

AutoGK worked. I would still like to know why or how to get DVDX to work it has alot more options to get the end video i would like to have.
