NEC drive was working wonderfully. Burning well with no coasters using TDK 4x +r media. Recently bought a spindle of Ritek G04 -R media. When i put one into the drive (have tried many from the spindle), the drive doesnt recognize that any media has been put in. I went to dvdinfo to try and test the media and it says "NO Media Present". I am using Herries latest firmware and have tried three different versions with the same problem. My drive is in an external enclosure through usb 2.0. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive with no success. Any idea how I can get this practically brand new drive to recognize media again. Thanks in advance for the help.

Have you tried fully powering off the external drive after flashing the firmware ?
I use a nec2500 and always use Ritek G04 media with no problems. Watch the nec 1.07 firmware as I no longer can burn my Ritek G05 media at x8. I could before flashing from 1.06
Hope this helps,

Use firmware revision 2.15 (for the NEC ND-2510A) for the best results with RITEKG04/RITEKG05 on the NEC ND-2500A. Herrie has made a version that will readily flash onto the ND-2500A, called 1.07v2b6.
