  1. I am trying to convert DV to MPEG2.
Capture via IEEE1394 is no problem, and says the resolution is 720x576 x 25fps (PAL).
BUT when I try to convert the captured AVI to MPEG (eg using bbMPEG or TMPGEnc) it says to resolution is only 360x288. Same when playing back after capture.
    Any ideas why?

  2. the reason is probably because you capture in type 1 dv. this uses the microsoft dv codec, and even though it HAS capture at full resolution in will only playback at half the size. it if u want try capturing as type 2 dv (which is usually an option in your capture prog) but you may need the mainconcept codec. to get that search google for it. type 2 is also more compatable with programs such as vdub, because the audio strem is kept seperate. vdub will only see the video stream of type 1 dv. if your cap prog will not let you capture type 2, try installing the mainconcept codec, and use the sonicfoundry cap prog from there website. theres a check box under options which will allow you to capture type2, and will allow segmented capture so you can get round the filesize limit if you are running 98/ME
