I am trying this DVD ripping for the first time and have played with alot of the templates and setting to see what I can do. I want to downsample the audio to like 160 so that I can increase the quality. I really can't tell the difference between 224 and 160 but I can tell the difference in quality. When I go into the Audio tab I can see the bitrate but it is grayed out. How can I change this? Am I supposed to downsample with some other program? Thanks for the help!!

Firstly, VCD specs require the video bitrate at 1150 kbit/s and the audio bitrate at 224 kbit/s.
ANY deviation from these = XVCD = non-standard/compliant VCD.
You will have to make your own template rather than load the default VCD one.

Load unlock.mcf from the TMPG\templates subdirectory. Then every setting is changeable again. You can decrease the audio bitrate to 160kbps but you will end with XVCD. 224kbps gives you definitely the better quality. TMPG has a built-in 48->44,1kHz downsampler, that is not the best, but it do the task if you select 44,1 at the audio tab.
