hi guys, i just wanna know if i've got the process right. i have avi files that i want to burn to dvd-r. so first i have to convert the avi files to mpeg2, then i use an authoring tool to burn to dvd. is that correct? also is authoring the same as burning?

Pretty much. Remember, when you convert to MPEG, you must convert to DVD MPEG-2 before authoring. The specifications are in the
What is =>DVD section at left. Then you author the MPEG file. This converts it to IFOs, BUPs, and VOBs files that you then burn to your DVD disk with your burner software.
    Hello.

  4. Before making a start on the full process which can be lengthy depending on your system and the final quality try Gspots software which gives the full info about the avi your going to encode, it will show up any codec problems and which format the avi is making it easier to alter any settings on your encoder, nothing worse spending a day encoding, authoring and burning to find the output film won't play.

Thats if you don't have it already
