what are the chances the converting process for avi files can be set to allow the user to make adjustments to make the file whatever size the user wants. thanks in advance

I don't know what plans ChrissyBoy might have for this, but when I need a file of specific size for a project I usually employ DVD2SVCD (similar name but quite different program). It hasn't had any new development for quite some time but it should accomplish what you need.
